Stories, photos, and voices uploaded to Recollective belong to the family that shared them. We treat that with the care it deserves.
What's private by default
Everything you and your family contribute to a Recollective book — stories, photos, audio, written entries — is private by default and visible only to people you've personally invited to the book.
You decide who joins. You decide who can read or contribute. You can remove a contributor at any time.
We don't sell your stories
We do not sell, rent, or share your family's content with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties for marketing. Full stop. Your memories are not a product.
How your data is stored
Stories, photos, and audio are encrypted in transit and at rest, stored with reputable cloud infrastructure providers, and access is limited to the small team that maintains the platform — and only when needed for support, safety, or technical reasons.
What we collect
To run your account we collect basic information: your name and email, the contributors you've invited, the content you choose to add to a book, and standard technical data (logs, device type) so the product works reliably.
We use a small number of trusted service providers for things like hosting, email delivery, and payment processing. They only receive what's necessary to perform their job.
Your rights
You can export your book and its contents, edit or delete entries, remove contributors, or close your account and request deletion of your data at any time. Just email us and a person will help.
If you're located in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR / CCPA — including the right to access, correct, port, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain uses. We honor those rights for everyone.
Children
Recollective is intended for adults building books on behalf of their families. Children may appear in stories and photos shared by a parent or guardian, but accounts are not for children under 13.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to understand basic, anonymized usage of the site. We don't use advertising trackers.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to how we handle your data, we'll tell you by email before they take effect.
